Fire in Fukushima’s cesium absorbing tower

On August 13th at approximately 11pm-12am (Tokyo time) there was cause for concern as a stark red flash of light was seen behind the cranes in Fukushima.

Speculation about what it could be ranged from just about everything imaginable, so I decided not to post this until the facts came out–which I thought would be within a few hours. Unfortunately, it wasn’t until today that it was verified by TEPCO that a cesium containment tower was damaged. This tower is located near reactor 4, and it was later revealed that a spill occurred at reactor 3 and 4 whilst workers put out the initial fire. It is estimated that 8 billion Bq/m3 of cesium leaked from contaminated water pipe.

We’re over a year an half into the post-Fukushima disaster, and it seems that while International efforts were/are being made for trivial matters such as the Olympics, it seems that a general level of Global disregard is met when we are made aware of this on-going ordeal. While it would have been ideal for the Japanese Government alone to handle and contain this situation, we have (collectively) experienced enough of the sheer incompetence and imbecilic (in)actions of the Noda administration to warrant global efforts to contain this.
This is no longer a matter that solely concerns a Sovereign Nation; if projections and trajectory models from the NOAA study are correct  N. America is awaiting even greater levels of contamination. Burning radioactive debris is not a means to ‘dispose’ of the waste, it merely accelerates is dispersal around the World, leading to greater threats to the ecosystem which has subsequently led to the mutations and spike in cancers that have unfortunately become so commonplace in the area surrounding Fukushima; this should be regarded for what it is: a crime punishable by death.

This administration or any other who willfully pursue these means or methods in defiance of it’s People cannot stand, and have no place in Japan (as the Populace have made it clear) nor in World.
